An Early 4th of July

Well the 4th of July is just around the corner!
When I was younger we would get sparklers and little fireworks to set off at the end of our driveway.. The last few years, however, have been quite uneventful. My freshmen year we went to the top of Preble hill and watched the fireworks over downtown. That was nice, but a bit crowded for my parents taste. And now, the last two years we've done nothing. I mean nothing. We sit inside and watch our usual TV shows, real exciting, huh?
Well since this is my first summer with a boyfriend I thought I might go watch fireworks with him... Figures, his family is out of town every 4th of July to his grandparents. And not the grandparents that live 20 minutes away, the ones that live in Michigan.. So I figured I probably would be stuck doing nothing special, again, for  this year's 4th of July.
But I'm considering yesterday, (6/29) to be an early celebration of the 4th! After a nice picnic lunch Abby, Colton, Caleb and I all went swimming at Erb. After years of ghetto jokes about what Erb must be like to Sydney, I'll give her some props. Erb wasn't nearly as ghetto as was imagined. Anyhow, swimming was great. And afterward we went out for some ice cream. Classic summer fun. After some pranks we pulled on Abby and Colton, we returned to their house and play COD. I'm quite the failure at that, and luckily Caleb only made me play it once. Colton however was convinced he could Caleb at least once.. It took quite a while. Bekah and Erich arrived during Colton's long attempt and we all made fun of him.. Aren't we nice? ;) After a nice chicken & corn-on-the-cob dinner, the six of us went outside and played a good ole' game of four square to pass the time before we left for the Timber Rattlers game. That was quite the interesting game. Once we arrived at the Timber Rattlers game, we set out our blankets on the steep grass "seats". After a tremendously long game, the night ended with a fireworks show. Talk about amazing. I can honestly say I don't remember the last time I saw fireworks. They were pretty high quality for being at the end of a baseball game. And I guess watching them with Caleb might have helped them seem pretty great.. But Bekah agreed that they were pretty good, so it wasn't just me. ;)
Talk about one fantastic day. I couldn't have asked for a better early 4th of July.
Now the rest of July probably won't be anywhere near as great as last night was.. But we'll see how that goes.

Scary

It still hasn't really sunk in that I'm technically a Senior in High School.
I helped out a bit during basketball camp this week and Monday I was introduced as a Senior. I'm pretty sure I lost my breath. I felt like breaking down and crying. I'm not ready to leave home any soon. Well I guess are you ever "ready"?
The fact that I'm a Senior comes with so many things that I need to accomplish with the coming year. Scholarship applications, actual college applications, financial aid submission, and finishing high school itself. I don't even know where to start.
Sometimes I wish I had an older sibling just so I could follow their footsteps and so my parents wouldn't feel like it was so stressful helping me out because they had previous experience, but sadly, I don't have that luxury.
This year will be a rather interesting..
So here is a "layout" of what is to come. Some are goals, and some are just tasks...
Fall:
Final Season of Volleyball(I'm thinking we go to state! :D)
College Class: Intro to Philosophy
Work: Pizza Ranch
Student Council & NHS Events: like Homecoming!
Have my top 5 colleges picked out
Actual high school coursework to continue

Winter:
Decide if I'm playing Basketball or not
Finish College Class & Possibly start a new one
Work:^^
Student Council & NHS Events: like Snowball & Cookie Walk
Talent Show
Music: Stage One & Solo&Ensemble Prep
Continue to kick high school's butt and finish last first semester STRONG
Get accepted into college

Spring:
Possibly do drama(depending if it's a musical or not)
Music: Solo&Ensemble
Finish second semester college class
Work:^^
Graduate high school!

It's really scary to see all that I have ahead of me in just a matter of about 8 to 9 months. Part of me can't wait to finish it all off, but part of me doesn't ever want to leave high school. I've fallen in love with my school, despite the lousy dress code & ridiculous rules. I can't imagine not sleeping in my school's hall way when I'm at school early. I can't imagine not walking into the bathroom and seeing half of a science class in there to avoid the class. I can't imagine not making fun of a lack of hallways or stairs. I can't imagine not avoiding homework right outside of the classroom that you're supposed to be doing the homework for. I can't imagine not being with my friends every single day & having them cheer me up when I'm feeling down.
I don't want to grow up just yet. I want to stay this age forever.
But I guess life doesn't work that way, somehow I'll have to manage.

More Memories

I just recently came across this post I forgot to publish... It's FULL of good Prom memories... I looked through and couldn't help smile seeing where everything has gone since Prom. Interestingly enough there are only three pictures, so it's not all that great to look at if you aren't me.
Enjoy it anyway. :)

More pictures and memories to share! :D
Caleb & Me during Prom.. Taken on Ana's dad's phone.
After work the other day I got this picture in a text from Ana's dad. What a pleasant surprise!
Caleb & Me before Prom at the Botanical Garden.
One of the many pictures on Facebook, thanks to Caleb's mom.
From Paul Manke's sight.
I'm rather new with the idea of screen shots, so that ^^ was all I could figure out.. But I think it's just an absolutely amazing shot, with the background and all. Just an all around great picture.. Pretty snazzy, don't ya think? ;)

Reality Sucks

As summer has begun, so has my wonderful streak of reality tv shows.
Every summer I get into the phase where I sit on the recliner for hours and watch loads of tv. This summer my show of choice is pretty much anything on Bravo or WeTv!
Sometimes these shows make me want to live those people's lives and other times it makes me thankful for the life I have.
When I grow up ideally I would want to be a stay at home mom with 5 kids. I have names picked out already for them even! Alexia Marie, Rosalie Anne, Jace (no middle name picked out yet), Lindsie Mae, and Andrew Thomas! I know that eventually this won't work out, unless I marry rich.
And in all reality, I doubt that will happen. And yes, it sucks, but I guess I can handle having to put in some hard work and endure college and work for a spot in the real world. Reality may suck, but in the long run I think I'll actually be quite happy living a life with lots of hard work and dedication to family, friends, and work.

So Far, So Good

It's summer!
This has already been the best summer ever, and I can't wait to see what the rest of it brings!
I've got my friends:

I've got my boyfriend, which still sounds super weird to me:

And I finally feel like I've got everything to work out exactly how it should be...
So far, my summer has been amazing. Minus this incident:
Note to self: Use bridges when they're available. They are probably there because the area around the stream is super muddy and will absorb your foot and break your flip flop...
Oh well, at least it makes for a great story :)
Summer 2012 is off to an impossibly great start!
