You guys! It is April already!
This month looks jam packed!
I am currently home in Green Bay for Easter. I head back to Saint Paul Monday. I am already quite excited to head back. I cannot wait to move there in August!
Anywho, here's what is in store for the month!
April 11th I will be interviewing for the Education Program at Concordia. I am beyond nervous for this-it decides my future. What could be more nerve-wracking than that? I have yet to find out about what time I will be doing the interview process, but I am eagerly awaiting the email that will tell me my fate.
April 17th & 18th I am babysitting my cousins overnight. I am super excited about this! My aunt and uncle proposed this idea when Trevor and I visited when we got back from Spring Break. I'm loving the idea of spending more time with my cousins, and I'm hoping we watch their favorite movie: The Sound of Music.
April 18th is Trevor's 21st birthday! We don't really have plans figured out yet-but I'm hoping we celebrate at a restaurant so I can be a part of the festivities as well. I'm still in the process of buying his gift-he's so picky!
In addition to the above dates, Trevor and I need to tour apartments and find one we will be living in next year. Trevor will also be shooting for a new client, and I may be second shooting with him.
April will certainly be a busy month, but I'm excited for the adventures it will hold! I think it will be a fantastic time of preparation for the wedding as well.

Wedding Update
I'm sure you've all been wondering how the world of wedding planning is going...
August 2nd is only 131 days away! Wow. We're almost to double digits already.
So before spring break, Trevor and I mailed out both our paper and digital invitations! Such an exciting step to take. Now people can actually show up to the wedding as they know the details.
So far we have had 13 of the 97 guests RSVP.
I think my favorite part about The Knot is that you can set up your entire guest list through there and people can view your "wedding website." Through the website they are able to see your registries, wedding details, and in our case RSVP! This was originally going to be the only method of RSVPing we were going to use. My mom, however, said that most of her family doesn't even have internet so we need another option. That is how my phone number ended up on the invitations. I've only received one call so far-from Trevor's side!
I'm a little concerned about the fact that only 13 people have RSVP'd so far, but there's still over 4 months until the wedding, so I guess some people may not know what their summers are looking like yet.
If you were invited though, and know you are coming, please RSVP for my sanity.
A rather concerning wedding happening occurred over spring break. Our Target registry disappeared. Yes, you read that right. I logged on one day and Target prompted me to start a wedding registry! What?! I had just finished ours through Target a few days prior. I went through all of our possible ways of accessing the registry, and sure enough, it said it was deleted. I contacted Target and told them that we did not delete our registry and asked if they were able to resurrect it somehow. I never got a response. BUT. I checked randomly a few days later, and it was back up! All in all, I am satisfied with how it turned out. But I was quite close to a Bridezilla moment.
Another wedding milestone occurred over spring break, however this one was not negative. We had our first pre-marital counseling session with Pastor Toenjes! It was Trevor's first time meeting him, so the first portion was just giving him a deeper insight into both of our lives and into our relationship. I was super nervous going into it because I didn't know what to expect. But we actually talked for two full hours and I had a really good time. I think we definitely chose the right guy to officiate our wedding. He also gave us the book, The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman to read through and work on together. I have read excerpts of it before, but am excited to work on reading all of it with Trevor! The hard part will be getting him to read....
The conversation of late has been honeymoon. Originally we were thinking we would just not go on one due to our financial situation. However, we did some re evaluating and concluded that we could in fact go on something small. Trevor and I narrowed our choices down to Saint Louis, Chicago, or the Wisconsin Dells. I was doing a lot of research on the Saint Louis option, as I would love to visit my birth city again. Nothing was really within our price range unless we were only staying a night or two. So we briefly looked into our Chicago hotel options. Same issue. It then hit me. We can't go on a honeymoon. We just cannot swing it. So instead, we're going to enjoy Saint Paul and Minneapolis. We'll hit up a few restaurants we've been wanting to try out, like Pizza Luce and Punch Pizza (Trevor only eats pizza). I'm sure we'll find a lot of other fun things to try out in town too. Thankfully there is a lot to do here. At the very least we could go on a photo adventure somewhere. Our honeymoon may not be something extravagant to somewhere tropical, but it'll be the two of us relaxing together, finally being married. Even though we won't go to Saint Louis or Chicago, I am excited for our honeymoon.
That's basically the latest news on the wedding front. Planning has been kind of slow as of recent. We're both swamped and stressed with work and school. Come summer, we'll be diving into making decor and getting the details all lined up.

Pre-Spring Break Excitement
I have never been one to have extravagant spring break trips, remove my Europe trip.
This spring break will not be extravagant in the sense of traveling to somewhere warm and getting a nice tan in my bikini, however, I think it will still be quite extravagant.
I am so excited for this spring break because I will be home for a week!
Saturday to Sunday I will be down in Mequon visiting my wenches, who I have not seen since last May (except for Bekah).
This spring break will not be extravagant in the sense of traveling to somewhere warm and getting a nice tan in my bikini, however, I think it will still be quite extravagant.
I am so excited for this spring break because I will be home for a week!

I miss these ladies a lot! I will also have a special surprise in tow for them!
Monday I have a dentist and an eye appointment scheduled. I keep getting harassed by both offices, and figure I need to get these appointments done with while I am still on my parents' insurance. I definitely will need to stock up on contacts while I have the chance!
Tuesday, Trevor and I have a meeting with Pastor Toenjes. We did our online questionnaire early January and I am excited for our first official session of marriage counseling. However, I am a little nervous. I'm not sure why though.
Wednesday, I have nothing planned, so maybe I'll surprise Katherine at school with lunch or something.
Thursday is a work in progress. I'm hoping for a good ladies night with some of my high school classmates, but the details are still being worked out. It would be so nice to spend a night with them all again!
Friday I am hopefully taking photos with Ana. If it does happen, I'm going to not only use my Nikon, but also my new film camera, a Pentax K1000! Then later that night, we (Trevor, and hopefully Ana and Bekah) are going to see Loftland at Cup O' Joy. I am really interested to hear their new sound since they have sort of changed their "look" recently.
Saturday Trevor and I will head back to Saint Paul.
I'm thinking that this will be a fantastic time home. It's crazy that I have not been home since late December.
Now to make it through this week of school!

Birthday
I am now 20.
I cannot believe that.
Only 52 weeks until I can legally drink-that's exciting I guess.
20 is kind of a weird birthday. At least for me it was.
It was spent doing normal things. Like going to church. the mall. dinner. doing laundry.
The only thing special was the constant reminder that it was my birthday so I had to make decisions. That just became more annoying than special.
Trevor got me an awesome present. I love that guy.
He bought me a Pentax K1000. These film cameras stopped by manufactured in '97.
I am so excited to begin shooting again with film!
What will 20 hold for me?
I'll be getting married.
I'll be in my own apartment with Trevor starting in August.
I'll be a real adult.
I'll have to be paying bills regularly.
What else?
I am not sure.
I hope for a lot of adventure and fun.
So here's to the beginning of my twenties.

Invitations!
Wow, we're at 164 days until the wedding!
Crazy!
Today I got almost all of the envelopes for invitations addressed..we're just waiting for a few addresses.
Some invitations will be hand delivered, others will be digitally sent out, and others will be old school snail-mailed.

6 Months
Today officially marks the 6 months point until the wedding day!
August 2 cannot come soon enough!
Things to get done as soon as possible;
-Finish registering for gifts
-Finalize guest list (get addresses)
-Figure out food
Granted there are several other things to do, those are the most necessary to get done soon.
Crazy to think that in 6 short months I get to marry my best friend and finally be his wife.
I cannot wait to spend our lives together.

Invitations, Catering, and the Guest List...Oh My!
Folks, it's about to get crazy here.
We're quickly approaching the 6 months mark until the wedding. That means things begin to get finalized!
So scary!
Yesterday, Trevor and I finished designing our invitations. They look pretty dang snazzy. We also ordered them! We got 40% off for Vistaprint! Plus 50 free envelopes! Win-Win! I am so excited/nervous/scared/impatient to get them.
Along with invitations came finalizing the guest list. What an incredibly tough task.
Some people will receive a special edition digital invitation which will link them directly to our wedding website, rather than a paper invite. While I certainly hope this does not offend anyone, I know it will help save on costs in a lot of ways: stamp purchases, invitation purchases, envelope purchases, etc. The main missing component of our guest list now is people's address (both physical & e-mails). So don't be surprised if you get a text or Facebook message from me soon asking for either!
One large cost that is scary to think about lately is food. Catering is so damn expensive! We've had two people from my church congregation say they may consider making the food for us if we discuss details with them sometime. So hopefully my dad and I can set up a Skype conference soon to get things figured out.
Through all of the stress planning a wedding has caused me, I still am sure I am less stressed than most brides.
I have an amazingly wonderful fiance who has been so supportive when I am in the midst of a freak out (which happens regularly).
All in all, I know the most important thing about the upcoming day is that I will be married. If the food runs out, or is burnt, or no one shows up, or too many people show up, none of that matters--I'll me married to my best friend.

Why I Want to Get Married Young
There are a million or two articles out there today about why certain people are glad they got married young. And there are just as many articles giving reasons as to why you shouldn't.
So why am I engaged at 19?
Here is my take on young marriage.
Trevor and I will be getting married on August 2, 2015.
He will be 21 and I will be 20.
He will have finished three years in college and I will have finished two.
Many people have suggested we push the wedding off until we are done with school. Even family members have told us to do so. They claim we will have more money to live off of then.
I beg to differ. At that time we will be paying off student loans and will never have any time when there is not a payment due.
Another thing.
Many people have asked if I know that Trevor is actually "the one".
Personally I do not believe that there is one single person out there for every person.
I do not think it is predestined who you will fall in love with and spend your days with.
God has given us the ability to love. And I think you can love anyone.
I am in love with Trevor and he is my best friend. So yes, I know he is the one I want to marry. No part of me doubts that in any way.
He is the one I want to spend my life with and to wake up next to every morning.
I am certainly not getting married purely for the reason of wanting to have sex (as was suggested by a lady cutting my hair when she found out I am 19 and engaged).
Am I worried that we'll ever get divorced?
NO.
We are both God-loving people. We have a healthy relationship now. And I do not doubt that if our relationship were ever to fall apart we would seek help from a pastor or counselor.
We are also doing pre-marital counseling with the pastor that will be marrying us. We took this awesome questionnaire and will be using it to guide conversation during our sessions. Personally, I am quite excited!
If my thoughts on getting married young aren't enough for you--that's okay.
I know marriage isn't for everyone. And certainly not for some people that are younger.
But I do urge you to not be afraid of it.

To Do...Eventually?
Have I mentioned how much I hate growing up?!
I am so beyond stressed already this semester-it's crazy!
Last night my roomies (well the two that are also ED majors) and I are were discussing interviewing this semester to get into the ED program.
Scary,eh?
I still have one of my MTLE (Minnesota Teachers Licensure Examinations) tests to take {I signed up shortly after the discussion--FEBRUARY 10!}.
I have my entire efolio to do.
I have several letters of recommendation to have written.
I have two human relations papers to write for classes this semester.
That's just a little insight of what my "to-do list" looks like currently..
Maybe I should have bought that adorable Shit To Do book at Typo yesterday!
I am so beyond stressed already this semester-it's crazy!

Lots of Thoughts
School always makes me look at things in a whole new way.
I guess I think about different things more philosophically perhaps.
Right now it feels like I have a lot thrown at me.
I want to be an adult. But at the same time, I wish being a little kid and being carefree.
Planning for the wedding has not been as tedious as it was earlier on while choosing date and location and whatnot.
Last night Trevor and I were grabbing sodas from the vending machine. He mentioned how the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra was starting their new set of symphonies they would be playing. He said that he would love to again. The Ordway is a beautiful place to listen to amazing, high class music. I said I would like that as well. Being at the Ordway and listening to such fine classical music really makes you feel like an adult. Not old, but sophisticated and like you have your lives together.
With everything Trevor and I are handling right now, I certainly do not feel like we have our lives together or figured out at all.
We don't have an apartment figured out for next year. We have no clue where we will live at all.
We have basically no furniture for next year. I am not staying with a twin bed for two people!
We are both still in school and neither of us have schedules figured out.
I will have the option to student teach wherever I will like, so potentially out of state if Trevor and I would like to move from Saint Paul earlier than me graduating. That is something that will need to get decided on sooner rather than later for budget reasons.
We both are unsure of what our job situations will be like next semester. We only have one car so we will need to get new jobs closer to our nonexistent apartment.
It just feels like everything is compounding quickly.
Don't get me wrong, I am beyond excited to get married to Trevor.
I do not want to push off the wedding or move in together before marriage or anything that may be suggested.
I am content with our decisions because I do feel they will be the best for us.

Week One
Well the first week of second semester has come to an end.
Man did it ever drag!
I am taking six classes:
THL 270-Our Living Faith (m)
KHS 110- Dynamic Health and Human Movement (g)
BIO 100- Biology Today (g)
MUS 121- Listening to Life: Global and Popular Music (g)
ED 330- Human Diversity and Relations (M)
ECE 324- Language Development & Emergent Literacy (M)
|m=minor| |M=Major| |g=gen ed|
I have a rather interesting mix of classes. Obviously I am still finishing up a few of my gen eds. I think next semester I will just have one and the rest will be for my major/minor!
Along with ED 330 and ECE 324 I am required to complete human relations hours. I need to do 15 hours for each class. ED 330 will have the focus of different cultural groups other than my own. ECE 324 will be focusing on English language learners. Some of these hours I will complete at work at PLUS Time, so I will not have to go out of my way for those. However, not all of my hours for all of my human relations reports can be done at the same location. I still have two more reports to do in addition to the two for these classes. One of the reports I have completed the hours for already.
It will certainly be a busy semester.

Wedding plans had slowed down a bit last semester, but now they need to pick back up!

However, not all of my hours for all of my human relations reports can be done at the same location. I still have two more reports to do in addition to the two for these classes. One of the reports I have completed the hours for already.
It will certainly be a busy semester.

Wedding plans had slowed down a bit last semester, but now they need to pick back up!
Exciting things to mark off the list: bridesmaids' dresses, officiant, possible catering services, ceremony musician, [invitations nearly finished, guest list almost completed]! Big things are happening! Only 198 days!

2014 Recap
Wow! It's already New Years Eve!
I cannot believe 2014 has already come to a close.
It seems like just yesterday we were welcoming it in.
2014 had lots of events for me.
I got engaged, transferred schools, got a few different jobs, began taking a lot more photos, and started my H&M shopping addiction.
Amidst the big events, a lot of little stuff happened too.
Some I am not proud of, but others I am really proud of.
I am not going to go into specifics, but all in all--2014 treated me well.
I know 2015 will be even better and I cannot wait to see what is in store.
The key event on the radar: the wedding!
Lots of planning and decisions are to be accomplished over these next few months since the wedding is early August.
I wish you all the best in 2015.

The Dress
Well, yesterday was a BIG day for me.
I went and tried on wedding gowns with Ana, one of my best friends and bridesmaids.
I tried on a few at David's Bridal. They were all nice, but not quite right. We then headed to Bride-to-Be Consignment in Bloomington. I had been there one other time with Trevor. That was where we bought some adorable lanterns (I still need to write a post about those beauties)! Anywho, we both tried on quite a few dresses. In fact... I fell in love with one!
It is now hanging in my room.
I'm so glad Ana was able to come this weekend and I bought my wedding dress! It was originally a $1200 dress. I bought it for $328.58! What a steal!

The End is Near
I just looked at my calendar.
It freaked the hell out of me.
Only like a month left of this semester..only 3 weeks of actual classes.
I take my MTLE next Monday--I am terrified!
So much is coming up so quickly.
School + 2 jobs + wedding planning = STRESS!
At least Ana is coming to visit in a little over two weeks, that will be awesome to take my mind off of everything coming up!

My Best Friend
Yesterday marked 15 months with Trevor.
It also marked 9 months on the countdown to our wedding day!
I am beyond excited!
We will be sharing our first kiss as a married couple two years after we shared our first ever kiss.
Looking at the numbers, I realize how extremely blessed I am.
Within these 15 months, Trevor and I have gone through a lot.
Our biggest challenge was distance.
I am so thankful that God has blessed me with such an amazingly strong man that has supported me through the trials that distance threw at us.
Oddly enough, I cannot imagine where our relationship would be had we not gone through dealing with distance. The distance was hard, but it made our relationship strong in ways beside just physical intimacy. We were forced to rely purely on conversation. We became the best of friends.
I always imagined I would one day marry my best friend, and I am certain that I will do so.
Less than 9 months.
It also marked 9 months on the countdown to our wedding day!

My Halloween
Well I sadly did not go trick-or-treating last night. Or to any parties. I did not dress up at all.
Instead, I enjoyed a delicious dinner with my fiance. We went to the Mall of America to try to work out phone plans and then headed to Bride to Be Consignment.
At Bride to Be Consignment we found the perfect lanterns to be a part of our centerpieces. Sadly, due to misadvertising on their Facebook page, we paid more for them than I was hoping. But they were still an awesome deal! After that, we came back to my apartment and watched our current Netflix addiction: Bob's Burgers.
I am so excited to start working on our centerpieces.
I think we are going to be going for this look (minus the wood slabs):
It's exciting seeing everything fall together.
Especially now that the venue is officially booked! Which means the date is set in stone.
Wow.
These next months are going to be fantastic!
Only 274 days until I marry the love of my life! I cannot wait!

Aspirations
Goals. Aspirations. Dreams.
Whatever you wish to call them, you should have them.
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Whatever you wish to call them, you should have them.
Have a purpose in life.
A reason to do what you do.
Personally, my ultimate and overlying goal in life is to be a light for Christ and to be a true example of what His servant should look like.
Right now I am not doing so well at that.
So I am working on changing the necessary things in my life to get back on track.
It's hard, but it's possible.
I have other goals, all of which support this overlying goal.
Some of my others are:
- marry the man of my dreams
- graduate college
- become a Lutheran classroom teacher (hopefully a preschool or kindergarten classroom!)
- gain better control over my anxiety and handle my stress better
- start a family
- find a church that fits my family's needs in the best way possible.
Obviously some of these goals are quite a ways off yet. Some have more flexibility in when they may occur.
Regardless of what I have in mind for timing, I need to keep in mind that God has the timing worked out already. It isn't going to always go how I have planned.
Matthew 6 offers a reminder about how to handle these unplanned events and timings:

Work
Well I'm officially not the newest employee at Noodles!
Today, a woman was actually asking me questions, it's her first week there and I seemed to know what I was talking about.
Yesterday I worked at PLUS Time from 3-6 and was then picked up by my aunt to babysit my cousins. I watched them from 8 pm- 1:30 am. This morning my Noodles shift was 11 am- 2 pm. And I head back for a 4- 8 pm shift. Tomorrow I work a split as well.
I'm getting so exhausted from working so much. However, this coming week I don't work Tuesday or Thursday, which will be nice to have a little bit of a break.
The money is much needed. In case you did not already know--weddings are expensive!

A: In the next ten years... Hmm.... Well, Nick and I get married and hopefully by then I will have a set idea as to what it is I would like to pursue career wise. Once Nick is out of the Marines we plan on moving back here and probably getting an apartment to start of with, but eventually we would like to buy a house with land so we can have a small hobby farm with chickens, goats, horses, cats, and a dog. After he's out he is thinking of going into the police force. We also have dreams of traveling the world together before we completely settle down and start a family; which probably wouldn't be till we're 30 or so.

A: Well I should say that though it may seem that I have this grand plan of how I want everything to work out I don't expect it to. I don't mean that in any negative sense at all, what I mean is that I know God always has a plan as to how the events in my life, in everyone's lives, will play out for the better even when it seems like things are not going at all the way you had planned them. I always have to remind myself that God is in control and that in the end what he has planned is so much more amazing than anything I could have come up with and that it's times like those that shape who we are and who we become.

The Little Things
The time has come for me to redo my blog.
I've begun to feel bored with it, so I thought I would try a few new things.
To start things off, I am going to blog more regularly and use more graphic grabbers.

Back on track now..
So the blog that has truly inspired me to change my look is Absolutely Arkansas!
Kylie is a newlywed and one of the craftiest people that I "know".
I aspire to someday reach her level of DIY projects, but for starts, how about I just run a semi-decent blog?
So, in order for me to do this, I am going to be refocusing myself.
As a college student, it is so easy to get caught up in the stress of assignments and projects.
As a new adult, it is easy to get overwhelmed with bills and payments.
As a newly engaged woman, it is easy to be swept away with wedding plans and the million tasks to accomplish before the big day gets here.
Right now I fill a lot of roles. I am trying so many new things and experiencing so much.
How to avoid the stress?
I often ask myself this..normally after I am already overly stressed..
The little things in life.
Who is there for you when you are sick and don't want to do anything but lie around?
For me, I instantly think back to last winter when I had mono. Trevor would come over nearly everyday of break and sit by my side as we watched Netflix. I seldom felt like doing anything, but he was there nonetheless.
What do you have to drink before class, or you'll die from exhaustion/thirst/hunger?
I can't leave my apartment without a Chai Tea Latte in hand for my 8 am class.
Who is there when you come home from breaks?
I love being greeted by Buddy, my family's maltipoo, even though he often runs right past me to say "hi" to Trevor.
There are so many other little things we don't even realize are there.
Two days ago I drove up to Institute, WI in Door County. My sister had a volleyball game at Sevastopol High School.
I had an amazing time driving up alone. I jammed to music and stopped in Sturgeon Bay to take some photos.
The little things I enjoyed then: alone time, music, God's wonderful creation, fall colors, the open bay, volleyball, and time with my sister.
All in all, we need to remember to step back each day and reflect on the little things we have been blessed with. Despite all the doom and gloom we may be experiencing, there is so much good in our lives too.
